The concept of Ethereum, original proposed by Vitalik, is an open source public blockchain platform with a smart contract function. It provides decentralised virtual machines to deal with point to point contracts through a built-in encrypted digital currency: ETH.
Ethereum is a decentralised platform that runs smart contracts: applications that operate exactly as programmed, without any possibility of downtime, censorship, fraud or third-party interference. It enables developers to create markets, store registries of debts and promises, or issue their own digital assets (tokens). These tokens use a standard coin API so contracts are automatically compatible with any wallet, other contract or exchange also using this standard. In addition, Ethereum is built in Turing Complete scripting language to bring smart contracts to life.
